As I mentioned in our last blog posting, we exhibited at The Wedding Experience at the Kent Showground a couple of weeks ago. It was a great day with over 1500 couples coming along to see lots of local suppliers...

It's mid-April, which means it's time for us to prepare for our first wedding fair of the year. Sunday 22nd April sees us exhibiting at The Wedding Experience at The Kent Showground just outside Maidstone. We have exhibited at this show for a few years now and we really enjoy it.

Having been brought up by music-loving parents (I get my love of funk and soul from my Mum and my love of rock from my Dad), I'm a big fan of a lot of different types of music. This could not have been more obvious over the past couple of weeks through the choices of live music that I have been to watch.

On Monday night, I had the pleasure of going to see a guy called Ben l'Oncle Soul in concert. I first heard about Ben when I was in France last year on holiday. A song of his called 'Soulman' was constantly on the radio and I just couldn't get enough of it. I came back to the UK and tracked down his album and instantly fell in love with it.

Being a DJ has taken me all over the UK in the last few years - Nottingham, Preston, Bristol and Norwich to name a few party venues - and I would usually plan on staying in a hotel on my way home and having a relaxing journey back the following morning. However, this is not always possible....

We got to do something last night that is quite rare for us - we went to a wedding but as guests! Our friends Emma and Martin got married yesterday at the amazing Chilston Park Hotel in Lenham, Kent. We have played here quite a few times in the past but it was great to see the venue from a guest's point of view....

Tonight is the annual Brit Awards, held this year at the O2 in London. The Brits has had a hard time the past few years and reinvented itself last year at a new venue and with a new format. I was lucky to go to the Brits a few years ago and whilst it was great to see some of the live performances (Paul McCartney!), the night mainly consisted of people from the 'industry' getting drunk......

Despite the updates on our Facebook page and our (admittedly occasional) Twitter postings, we have never really embraced full-on blogging. Well, here we go. Stick with us for updates on stuff that's going on, info on songs we like, thoughts on event planning, how to go about booking a DJ and tons of other fun, but ultimately informative, stuff.

For those that don't know, we are an event entertainment company providing DJs and great music to weddings, parties and corporate events. It's a ton of fun and we love it! Mikasa is run by Rich and Nicky, here we are enjoying the fun at Glastonbury.....

Hi, I'm Rich. I run Mikasa Events and took up DJing when I was at school; I've just never got over my love of music whether that's at home,  Glastonbury or a wedding. This is a small insight into what I get up to with Mikasa.
